About Tico
Tico Armand is a Haitian-born children’s author, storyteller, and creative whose work invites children to see themselves, understand one another, and approach the world with curiosity.
Raised between Haiti, Brooklyn, and Miami, Tico brings culture, humor, heart, and lived experience into stories that explore identity, belonging, friendship, grief, confidence, and the beautiful differences that shape how children experience the world.
Her books have taken her beyond traditional storytelling and into classrooms, community spaces, cultural institutions, and organizations working with children and families. Whether a story begins with two children discovering that “football” can mean two different things, a little girl embracing what makes her different, or a child learning that there is no single right way to grieve, Tico writes to create conversation.
Because for Tico, the book has never been the destination.
It’s the door.
And what happens after the last page matters just as much as the story itself.
